We offer many different and varied co-curricular opportunities at
St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Stanmore.
Chess
Chess is offered as a lunchtime club for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. This allows students to pursue an area of passion whilst developing and improving problem solving skills.
Band
Students from Years 3 to 6 participate in the Amadeus music program. Sydney Catholic Schools have employed specialist music tutors to teach students an instrument of their choice. Students perform and showcase their achievements throughout the year at various events.
Choir
Sport
We employ a specialist sport teacher who delivers the NSW curriculum in an engaging way. There are also various sporting organisations employed to deliver specialist programs including dance, gymnastics, martial arts and swimming. The students have various opportunities throughout the year to participate in sporting events across schools including gala days and cluster events.
Languages
Students at St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Stanmore engage in the study of Mandarin. Mandarin Chinese is the most widely-spoken language in the world. Students are provided with opportunities that involve the integration of listening, speaking, reading, viewing, creating and writing in Mandarin.
Coding
Students from Years 3 to 6 can be part of the Robotics and Coding club. This club supports and extends the skills students develop through the Science curriculum. Students are engaged in team work, problem solving and critical thinking. There are also opportunities for some students to participate in competitions involving schools across NSW.
Creative and Practical Arts
Our specialist teachers provide opportunities for students to explore and develop skills across the various domains of the Creative and Practical Arts. This includes Visual Arts, Music and Drama.
